Continuing our family’s legacy for the last 80 years, we have created the Metaxakis Winery located very close to Perama Mylopotamos, about 1 km between the villages of Orthes and Margarites.
Yiannis Metaxakis, the owner, established the winery in 2019, motivated by his love for winemaking and his experience in cultivating organic vineyards and also the family's olive grooves. The Metaxakis Estate covers an area of approximately 49 acres. It is located next to the Margarites gorge and the Margarites stream which create a unique landscape and an ideal microclimate (terroir) suitable both for the planting and the growing of vineyards.
The vineyards are small in size, located in between olive grooves and are scattered in the wider area of Mylopotamos on sloping lands overlooking the mountain Psiloritis. The area is rich in sweet smelling herbs and combined with organic viticulture leads to the production of high quality grapes for wine.
So we created a modern winery with love and respect for Cretan tradition and our natural environment. Our experienced staff and modern equipment create the conditions for the production of high quality wine and we are ready to welcome anyone who wants to travel with us to the exciting world of wine.
